Donesia Rector

All about me
Hello everyone! My name is Donesia Rector and I'm orignally from Houston, TX. In 2013 I permanently relocated to north Texas and I currently live in Irving. I originally moved to Denton in 2011 after transfering to Texas Woman's Univerity. I received my bachelors degree in 2012 and decided the folling year that I wanted to return to north Texas for good. I'm currently in the dual certification/masters program and I eventually want to get my masters in Curriculum and Instruction. It has been a huge adjustment but so far things have been going well. This is my first time playing with technology and so far it has been very challenging and exciting. I recently found out that I'm expecting my first bundle of joy in July and life has become so much more exciting than I ever expected!
Why I want to teach
Teaching will be a major career change for me and I'm really looking forward to getting into the classroom. I have so many ideas that are waiting to come to life. I love being active and I love serving people. I love to help people discover and build themselves and teaching is a great way to connect and make a difference in someone's life. Teaching is not just a job. Teachers become friends, mentors and guides to help students fully maximize their talents, imagination, skills and character. I also consider myself to be a lifelong learner and I feel that you will never learn a topic better than when you start to teach it. I plan to teach middle school science and I love when students ask questions. Teaching science will allow me to be a student of science throughout my career and provide the opportunity to incorporate new technologies and science events into my classroom. I'm also looking forward to the autonomy that a teaching career will provide. Even though the curriculum is mandated, I will decide what will happen in the classroom each day. There aren't many jobs that provide an individual with so much room to be creative each day.
